Manchester Environmental Resource Centre Initiative (MERCi)
Who should I speak to?
What do they do?
MERCi is an independent charity working to make Manchester more sustainable.
MERCi established Bridge-5 Mill in 2001 as an inspiring focus for sustainability in Manchester - a physical focus for debate and action around sustainable living. Bridge-5 Mill is Manchester's only Centre for Sustainable Living and is home both to MERCi and numerous other progressive organisations and projects.
MERCi works to facilitate progressive projects, which directly address communities' needs. MERCi was instrumental in establishing many networks including Manchester Environmental Education Network (MEEN) and Manchester Social Enterprise Forum (MSEF), as well as enterprises like Herbie the fruit & vegetable delivery service, Ridgeway Community Garden , Manchester Bio-diesel Co-operative, and Powwow Eco Arts group.
What support is offered to Schools?
The fourth floor of Bridge-5 Mill houses an exhibition area; providing workshop space for schools and organisations in the day time, meeting space for various groups in the evening, and conference space which holds a hundred people.
