Education for Sustainable Development

The harsh truth is that humanity is living beyond its means. Simply to carry on living in the way we do we would need to have three planets worth of resources. Clearly then it's not a question of whether we change our lifestyles but how we change our lifestyles.

"Sustainable development" is about making sure everyone has a better quality of life now and for the generations to come. To do this we have to balance four basic principles: the impact we have on our environment; the way our society enables us to relate with each other; the political structures which define whether we participate in decision making and the economic needs of everyone.
