What do they do?
The mission of the Countryside Learning is a simple one. It is to educate, inform and inspire children, parents and teachers, so that they can enjoy and appreciate the countryside while having a greater understanding of the wide range of issues surrounding it.
Countryside Learning acts as a link to a national infrastructure whereby teachers and their pupils can visit and study skilled workers in their workplace, using the knowledge gained and extra resource facilities available through Countryside Learning to take back to the classroom to enhance the school curriculum. Their work in this area is enhanced by a partnership with other like minded organisations especially work with the Growing Schools Programme which delivers a truly nationwide agenda for education outside the classroom.
What support is offered to Schools?
They have a number of countryside resources that can be linked to different subjects in the school curriculum. They help to run estate days allowing the opportunity for schools to learn about estate management. They provide information regarding how to have a safe farm trip and run a yearly countryside fair for school children to learn about the countryside.
