What do they do?

An outdoor education centre which enables young people to experience ‘Learning outside the classroom’. The centre comprises of two purpose built classrooms set in woodlands of a countryside park with access for all to pond areas and nature trails.

The activities engage and stimulate interest and raise awareness about lots of environmental issues, supporting young people in being forward thinking about their environment and how they can make a difference locally and globally.

What support is offered to Schools?

Teachers receive materials before the visit in order to prepare and integrate the day’s lessons into the curriculum. All programmes are cross-curricular with some focusing specifically on science investigations.
Teachers will also receive materials after the session that will support follow up work with the group and will raise whole school awareness of the environmental topics covered. Science based programmes are hands on and support many areas of the curriculum. There is also an outreach programme to bring activities out to schools.

Example of activities

Electricity and Sustainable Energy activities, Bright Sparks programme, Act on Climate Change, Water Cycle activities.
