What do they do?
Stockport Hydro is a community owned, electricity generating station which, unlike most power stations, does not harm the environment. There are no emissions and the plant is clean and non-polluting.
What support is offered to Schools?
The Hydro development is an example of a community owned renewable energy source on the River Goyt. It can be visited by schools, perhaps as part of an existing coach trip. There is no access for children on the walkways and power house but volunteers can be available to meet groups at the site talk about the venture and answer any questions.
Volunteers are also available to visit schools for bespoke explanations of the venture. Contact Stockport Hydro to discuss requirements.
