Northern Sustainability Summit
MEEN’s stall at the Northern Sustainability Summit on July the 8th 2024 had the theme 'Meet your new workforce'.
Those attending were able to meet and talk with pupils from Canon Burrows CofE Primary School’s Eco team who demonstrated the knowledge and skills to show just how exciting a prospect today’s students have as we face the challenges of the climate crisis. The young people talked about what they, and the school, are currently doing to make the local and national region more sustainable. They asked delegates to make green pledges or prayers for a greener future and they conducted questionnaires enquiring how other stall holders ensure prospective employers had the knowledge and skills needed to be our future green workforce.
As well as the students present Stuart and Andy from Trafford and Stockport College Group were also on hand to tell visitors to the stall about their institutions’ top quality training offers for school leavers in the new green industries. The college group made a giant leap forward with the February opening of their fantastic ‘Green Technologies Hub’ which was installed by a leading provider of renewable training courses Quantum Group. Stuart and Andy were able to discuss and explain how the new courses would equip the highly skilled new workforce that is needed for the future.
