What do they do?
Our School in the Woods offers part-time outdoor education and alternative provision for children aged 5 to 16 in West Didsbury, Manchester. Set in a private 1.7-acre woodland, the program supports both home-educated young people and students referred from mainstream schools. Sessions combine forest school child-led play with adult-led practical projects—including whittling, wildlife tracking, map reading, and campfire cooking—all designed to re-engage students, build resilience, and develop social-emotional skills.
What do they offer schools?
Term time alternative provision for children aged 5-11 (school years 1-6) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (9.00am-3.15pm) and 11-16 (school years 7-11) on Thursdays (9.30am-2.00pm).
