What do they do?

An anti-nuclear weapons, anti-nuclear power and peace organisation. GM&DCND lobbies politicians, produces information packs and leaflets, organises non-violent direct action protests at nuclear weapons bases and nuclear power plants and aims to change government policy on the so called nuclear deterrent, Trident.

What support is offered to Schools?

CND has a Peace Education Worker who is available to visit schools and organise interactive workshops and talks on anti-nuclear, anti-war and peace themes. There is also a Peace Education Schools Pack available.

Example of activities

Greater Manchester and District CND organises workshops with schools exploring non-violent conflict resolution and issues around war in general. They organise annual events commemorating Conscientious Objectors Day and the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during the second World War.  They have strong links with peace groups in Japan and also with the Funairi Senior High School in Hiroshima.
