What do they do?

Stockport Hydro is a community owned, electricity generating station, unlike most power stations, it does not harm the environment. There are no emissions and the plant is clean and non-polluting. 

What do they offer schools?

It can be visited by schools to learn about hydro energy. There is no access for children on the walkways and power house but volunteers can be made available to meet groups at the site talk about the venture and answer any questions. They also run The Environmental Challenge Fund which awards funding to environmental, community or co-operative projects based in Stockport. If applicable a fund is launched in November with a deadline 31st of January the following year.
