What do they do?
Longdendale Environmental Centre is the environmental education site for the Peak District National Park. Based near Glossop the Longdendale Centre delivers high quality curriculum-based environmental education. They run a range of education programmes from their classroom which has access to a nearby wood and reservoir and also run programmes from the nearby Crowden Valley, a beautiful river valley.
What support is offered to schools?
Programmes cover a range of curriculum areas and encourage pupils to build a respect and appreciation of the natural environment. Currently they are offering:
KS1: Nature Discovery, Woodland Tales and Seasonal Change
KS2: Habitats; Mountains and Valleys, Rocks and Soils, River Study
KS3/4: Hydrology
A-Level: Carbon and Water, Moorland Ecology, Limestone Ecology.
More bespoke sessions can be arranged on request such as nature connection days and guided walks.
We aim to make our sessions accessable to all but some of our sessions do have restrictions so please discuss any specific needs with us.
