What do they do?

Longdendale Environmental Centre is one of three sites available for environmental education from the Peak District National Park. Based near Glossop the Longdendale Centre delivers high quality curriculum-based environmental education. They run a range of education programmes from their classroom which has access to a nearby wood and reservoir and to the Crowden Valley, a beautiful river valley.

What support is offered to schools?

Programmes cover a range of curriculum areas and encourage pupils to build a respect and appreciation of the natural environment. Currently they are offering KS1: Nature Discovery and Seasonal Changes in the Peak District.
KS2: Habitats; Mountains and Valleys (morning located at Crowden Valley, not suitable for wheelchairs); Rocks and Soils;
River Study (morning located at Crowden Valley, wheel chair access can be arranged).
