What do they do?
They are a national educational charity dedicated to bringing alive the working countryside for children least able to access it. Operating through England and Wales, they mainly work with primary schools in urban areas of high deprivation.
What support is offered to schools?
With a network of some 500 farms, estates and rural enterprises over England and south Wales, they organise visits to the countryside for children, their teachers and parents. The Our Farm Discovery programme is aimed at primary schools with a higher-than-average percentage of children eligible for Free School Meals EVER6. All visits are free of charge and the only expense for the school is transport. All host farms offer their time and resources for free because they believe passionately in the need to inspire and educate children about food, farming and the management of the rural landscape. There will be a member of the Trust's staff or trained volunteer present at every visit, with the exception of farms where the staff have been trained to deliver visits without us.
